Helpful hints to help sell your home: 1. The nose knows…Make sure your house smells clean! Rid your home of any pet odors, smoke or greasy cooking odors. 2. Cleaning… Remove pets from the house, or at least, keep them outside. Pets underfoot will quickly put a damper on an otherwise positive showing. 3. Pets… remove pets from the house, or at least, keep them outside. Pets underfoot will quickly put a damper on an otherwise positive showing. 4. Image…Six very important words: No clutter, no clutter, no clutter! Make sure every room is clean and spacious looking. 5. Depersonalize…Remove most of the “imprint” that you have made on the house. Having a few family pictures around is fine, but if your home is filled with personal photos and knick-knacks, you should take some time to depersonalize it. 6. Inspection…Consider a professional whole house inspection. An inspection will most likely uncover any major defects before they can cause trouble with a potential buyer. 7. Lighting…Buyers like a home that is “light and bright”, so accommodate them! When showing your home, position all of the drapes, curtains and blinds to let in maximum light. Turn on as many lights as possible. 8. Yard… Remove any junk or clutter from the yard. This includes tree limbs and leaves, but especially goes for junk cars or parts, lawn tractors etc. 9. Garage…Remove all junk, broken tools, old car parts, paint cans, etc. If the floor has oil marks, clean it. Solutions are available at most home improvement stores that will work with a normal garden hose. 10. Kitchen…Clean the exterior of all kitchen appliances and the oven interior. Clean or replace the stove hood filter. Polish the cabinet faces so they shine. Remove all clutter. 11. Paint… When it comes to preparing a house, painting gives you the best return for your money. Paint any rooms that have dirty or marked walls or those that are currently painted in dark colors. Keep colors light and neutral. 12. Carpet… At a minimum steam clean all carpeting. Replace any worn, stained, or foul smelling carpet.
