We have enjoyed all the events that we aended and more especially meeng many of you. We had our Potentate’s trip to Branson and it was great me. Lady Sharon hosted an Honored Ladies luncheon in Madison and the Ladies got an educaon on wine from Todd Wohlert. I aended Osman’s Hui turkey dinner with the St. Croix Valley Shrine Club and it was an outstanding night of food and fellowship. We then went to the St. Croix Valley Shrine Women’s Auxiliary aucon. They raised over $11,000 for the wheelchair fund. The Ladies work very hard for our kids.Sll coming up, we are joining in with Valley of LaCrosse Scosh Rite on November 13th and will be having our fourth Honored Ladies funcon, a Ladies Table Lodge. Not to forget the Ceremonial in La Crosse Dec 4th. The entertainment at the banquet is something that Lady Sharon has been working on for beer than a year. We want to thank each and everyone of you for your being a part of the Shrine family. Out of the many means of communicaon that Zor has, the Zephyr is the one that reaches out to every member of Zor, and with the membership spread out over the 2/3rds of the State, it is very hard to keep up with everything that is going on. We have found in the past that the Clubs and Units that do adverse their funcons in the Zephyr, normally have a beer turn out. So as an incenve to get more Clubs and Units involved with the Zephyr, we are going to e the Zor Fezzy Awards to the acvies of the Clubs and Units and the arcles that are submied to the Zephyr. In the past we have recognized individuals for their contribuons to the communicaons eorts with the Zor Fezzy Award. For 2022, we will be concentrang on the Zor Clubs and Units for their acvity. The way this will work is that we will need all Clubs and Units to submit their calendar of events to zorsubmit@gmail.com so that they can be added to the Zor Calendar and then posted in each issue of the Zephyr. Hopefully, with the added exposure to all of Zor, you might be able to see an increase in the aendance to your funcons. Once the funcons are over, we would need an arcle with pictures also submied to zorsubmit@gmail.com so that we can include them in the next issue of the Zephyr. This will have a two-fold result for Zor, (1) everyone will get to see what you are up too and have a chance to parcipate, and (2) help us produce a Zephyr that is ll with all the interesng things that are going on throughout Zorland. I hope this will catch the interest of all the Clubs and Unit Ocers so that we can make 2022 the most informed year they have seen in many years. You never know, with everyone seeing how acve your Club and Unit really is, you might even see an increase in your membership, and we all know how important that is for all of us. As one of the co-editors of the Zephyr and President of the Imagineers, please take this back to your Clubs and Units and seriously consider what this can do for both your Club or Unit, as well as Zor as a whole. I hope everyone enjoys the Holidays, and best wishes for a Prosperous New Year.Chris PetersMarkeng and Communicaons ChairmanAnd President Zor ImagineersChris PetersMARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS CHAIRMAN& ZOR IMAGINEER’S PRESIDENTZOR COMMUNICATIONSNoceTO: Club & Unit Presidents and Secretaries FROM: Bob Gorsuch, Recorder – Zor Shriners SUBJECT: Club And Unit Elecons And Reports It is important that temple leaders and Shriners Internaonal have a current and accurate list of club and unit leaders. Just so we are on the same page……In 2021 we had problems being able to meet (Covid) and were forced to postpone our Clown /Potentate party from February to September 2021. Now we are geng back to more normal mes and February 2022 will soon be upon us. With the New Year, we will also have a now Potentate, right? The Esquire will prepare another great family style meal with dessert. We will eat at 6:00 PM and the social me will begin whenever you arrive. Franks WalkTwo Months, 260 Kilometers, Thousands of DollarsAre you feeling like you can’t really accomplish hard things? Looking for inspiraon in a challenging me? Then look no further than Saskatchewan, Canada, and the WA WA Shriners, based in Regina.Earlier this year, 94-year-old Noble Frank Atchison of WA WA Shriners wanted to do something to help children. So he got some friends together and took a walk. He walked for two months. He walked 260 kilometers. And he raised thousands for Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Jim Pason Children’s Hospital Foundaon, a local charity.Connecng With SupportersWith the support of the WA WA Shriners, Shriners Internaonal, both hospitals and a dedicated organizing commiee, Atchison started walking from Saskatoon to Regina on April 15. Covering from 2 to 7 kilometers (1.24 to 4.35 miles) each day, he trekked through snow, sleet, high winds, searing cold and heat. People stopped to meet him on the highway and make donaons, truckers changed lanes and gave him an encouraging honk, and farmers waved and showed their support. As media coverage grew, so did donaons, and so did the number of supporters who came to meet him along the way. Eager to make connecons with people and to carry the message of helping improve the lives of children, Frank stopped oen to chat with people along the way, looking especially for young paents of the two hospitals. “Whenever I wanted to talk to supporters for an hour, we’d stand and talk for an hour,” Atchison said. “That’s what it’s all about, children. It’s not about old fellas like me walking. If I can help a child, that’s what my walk was all about.”Appreciaon and Gratude Sta from Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada sent encouraging video messages, and paents and their parents went out to thank and encourage Atchison. One of these families was Mahew and his mom, Kim, who met Atchison in Lumsden. Two years ago, Mahew spent 12 weeks at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Canada for treatment of clubfoot. They wanted Atchison to know what the hospital has meant to them. “Shriners Hospitals for Children sta have seen so much,” Kim said. “As parents, we feel that our issue is huge, but to the sta, it can be done. Most of us parents go to Shriners Hospitals because the doctor we are seeing has run out of opons. But when you walk into Shriners, there is a whole other set of opons.”A Lifeme of ServiceAtchison completed his walk on his 95th birthday, crossing the nish line on June 15. He was greeted by a WA WA Shriners parade, as well as Regina Mayor Sandra Masters and Saskatchewan Premier Sco Moe. At the welcoming ceremony, Atchison received his 50-year Shriners membership pin. Since 1941, Atchison has kept himself involved in fraternity acvies and has served in many roles, including President of the Saskatoon Shrine Club, President of the Arab Patrol, Captain of All Units, and Membership Chair. And he’s not planning on slowing down – the 95-year-old is already planning his next fundraising project.Frank’s Walk By the Numbers:• $80,404 raised for Shriners Children’s• 260 km (161.5 miles)• 61 daysPineValley Shrine ClubThe Pine River Valley Shrine Club recently held the Elecon of Ocers for 2022. The Fezval of Trees Commiee consisted of local members from the Zor Shriner Midgets Parade Unit. Proceeds from the event will be used to help fund new parade cars for the Zor Shriner Midgets. The event was held at the Valley Lodge #60 Masonic Lodge in Sparta. On Saturday, November 20th Santa made a visit from 2 – 6 pm for the kids both young and adult. The local newspaper was very generous in providing arcles leading up to the event and a full front-page arcle the week of the event. The Fezval of Trees showcased the sponsored trees and delicious warming foods for those stopping to view the trees. The organizers also received other area support with signage and peppermint sck posts for spectators to drop their ckets into with hopes of winning a sponsored tree. On Saturday evening the winners were drawn for each of the trees. The group was excited to have the winning ckets drawn by a current Shriners paent from Sparta. The Commiee is grateful about the turnout of people who aended the event, the sponsors who parcipated this years display and the number of potenal sponsors who indicated they want to sponsor a tree in the future. The Commiee is looking forward to hosng the 2nd Annual Fezval of Trees in November 2022. 2021 FEZTIVAL OF TREESSPONSOR WINNERShine-Brite Cleaners Toni WissestadGr8Buy Auto & Detail Max Burns-GilbertJohn Hendricks/Mark & Cindy Wise Sharon JerdeeUS Silica Tony GiesePreston Dairy Equipment Carrie HericksFoxhole Pub & Restaurant Jessica BrueggenRockland Flooring Marsalee HookerConcept Construcon Nancy RentzValley Lodge #60 - Sparta Jazmine PhelpsAl Coenen, Linda Thomas Jessica Dreier & Jim & Lu DeVoeDan & Kelly Smithburg Gail DuenMecca Shrine Club - Tomah Dorine EricksonPage 10 Zor Zephyr Magazine • www.zorshriners.com

This is the me of year where we let peace and good will toward our fellow man prevail as it should year round. The Fall Ceremonial happened in LaCrosse, and we welcomed some new Nobles into our fraternity! I believe everyone who aended had a great me meeng and welcoming our new Nobles! With the year 2021 closing and entering the year 2022, there will be changes some not so noceable and some that will be noceable, but that is normal for our great fraternity. Just like with membership there are going to some changes that people might like and some might not like so much, but if we remain creatures of habit and not try new things, we will become so stagnate that we will not gain any new members! The membership team is looking for members to help spread the word about joining the Shrine. So, if you are interested, or if you have an idea for aracng new members, please contact me at the following email address mrkastens@gmail.com. Please remember there is not I in the word team and we all are on the same team when it comes to recruing new members to this great fraternity!Just a reminder if you have not paid your 2021 or 2022 dues please do so before December 31, 2021 to remain an acve Noble in the ZOR Shrine. Remember, without you this great fraternity will cease to exist that is not what I want to see! The event had to be put on hold last year due to Covid, but this year Shriners and their ladies turned out in droves to enjoy a dinner together and to bid on donated items. And turnout they did. They not only had a record aendance but also set a new record in auconed o items sold. The ladies and their shriners answered the call when auconeer Gary Kruger opened the bidding, ending the evening with well over $11,000 raised for Shriners for Children in Woodbury. One parcular annual bid was from Sherm Boucher, who always bids on and wins a special Pecan Pie lovingly baked by Pearl Christensen, the events overall coordinator.Another annual favorite up for aucon was some homemade caramels made by Shrine Treasurer Jack Thomas of Hammond, Wisconsin. He also set a record for the number of boxes of the tasty treats. The event also features some of the creave quilts hand sewn by the ladies. It is always a part of the aucon that is eagerly ancipated by the audience. The ladies of the Shrine Auxiliary annually provide funds for the Shrine Children and are recognized for their eorts at the annual meeng held each December in LaCrosse. Daughters of the NileAnoch Temple No. 113Madison, WIThank you for shopping at our cookie walk at the Cerimonial in December. The University of Wisconsin-River Falls did bale with the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse on Saturday October 2nd at Smith eld in River Falls. The event culminated the celebraon of Homecoming for the Falcons, who came into the game with 3 wins and no losses. But on this day however, the Falcons would not prevail, but the day was lled with the spirit of comradery that is only found at homecoming in every university campus across America. One whole lane of the parking lot at Smith eld was dedicated to tailgang with just about anything imaginable on makeshi grills. The game capped a gala parade in which Shrine units from all over the midwest performed for the crowd on the streets of River Falls. The Zor Shrine dedicates this event to the Shrine Healthcare for children in the Twin Cies. As is the custom at this special event, the parade marshal is one of the paents who are receiving care from Shriners. This year’s parade marshal was Brock Haverland of New Richmond. He not only led the parade but also was given his own Falcon Jersey to wear for the day.Valley Shrine Club President, Brock Haverland, Parade Grand Marshal, his mom Melissa LaLiberty, Bob Hering member of the Shrine Board of Governors, Brocks sister Avalyn, Mark Jerdee, Zor Potentate and Gary Cuskey, Past Zor Potentate, Brock Haverland, Parade Grand Marshal,         Shrine Club President, Bob Hering of the Shrine Board of Governors, Roger Keller of the Zor Divan, Carl Gaulke,            Photos by Milt HelmerPage 18 Zor Zephyr Magazine • www.zorshriners.com

Nobles & Ladies Hopefully everyone is Healthy! It seems like spring and summer have just started but where did it go! Well, all the clubs and units have been doing a lot of parades, not bad at all for the way it started. We were all wondering what the summer was going to be like with covid . But it’s already November, fast approaching Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Many clubs have the Fezval of trees events so if you want to see some beauful Christmas trees stop in. The Mehara Shrine club is online . It is that me of year again, Zor Fall Ceremonial. This will be held in LaCrosse again, on December 4th & 5th. Then onto the Annual meeng and Installaon on Saturday January 8th in Madison. So, from our family to yours have a Very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
