is based out of Waushara Marquette Green Lake and Winnebago Counties Sometime in the 1990 s the name was changed to ZOR Mavericks We ride 1986 Honda Spree Mopeds and participate in about 25 parades a Day of Light A journal of my day November 12th 2022 GM Tourville The Shriner Masonic Day of Light was an amazing day for Wisconsin Freemasonry Nearly 60 new men raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason I thought I d journal the day as a way of sharing my thoughts 6 15 Wake up Yes I know it s nice to sleep in not miss the 4 45 wake up calls I ll be honest I loved growing up on a dairy farm but I do 8 00 I arrive at Tripoli Shrine in Milwaukee to be greeted by a huge crowd of Brothers excited about their day I was able to chat briefly with Matt Wright Tripoli Potentate to thank him for his efforts to make today happen Jeremy Koss put together one heck of an event I address the crowd of 24 men ready to begin their journey as Freemasons My brothers what a great time to be a Freemason in the State of Wisconsin I m proud to announce by the completion of today s activities we will be 100 in new Master Masons raised vs 2021 Up nearly 70 As a reminder being bigger does not make us better but it does allow us to do more things It is our responsibility to make more Masons It is also our responsibility to take good men and make them better Don t lose sight of this responsibility today I m proud of what we do Each of you that sits in this room currently as a Master Mason has found value in this Fraternity Something you do every single day For those of you that are not yet Master Masons today begins your journey It will be a very full day We have a lot to teach you The lessons of Freemasonry are absolutely amazing I encourage you to internalize as much as possible today tomorrow and every day that you are a Master Mason We will be clear on what we expect of you but you need to know a significant part of being a Freemason is self development I challenge each of you to find your value in Freemasonry every day Today is unique because these Masonic Day of Lights are being facilitated one of our appendant organizations the Shriners Becoming a Shriner may be where you find value at some point in your Masonic career Make no mistake your 1st obligation is to your Lodge After today you will need to demonstrate to your Lodge that you have learned the lessons of our degrees Once you ve proved to them that you ve internalized these lessons you are free to seek value wherever you can find it It will not be a challenge Our fraternity is amazing Let the journey begin 9 00 I m on my way to Beja Shrine On my drive I participate via phone in our III Pillars Senior Living Communities Board of Directors meeting What an amazing leadership team we have in place at III Pillars Lots of great things happening there Amazing care for our residents and a huge expansion project to dramatically increase our impact going forward You should be extremely proud of III Pillars I found out later that I could have stopped in at Sheboygan Lodge as they were conferring a Master Mason degree today Page 6 Zor Zephyr Magazine www zorshriners com

10 45 I arrive at Beja Shrine in Green Bay and greet John Van Lanen Beja Potentate Another great crowd and another 16 guys excited about their Masonic journey A big Thank You goes out to Chris Skipper Young who put together a fantastic event It s 11 30 and time to head out for my biggest drive of the day but wow the spaghetti smells great 11 30 I begin my drive across this beautiful state to greet Zor Shrine and their team My drive was interesting with several patches of blinding white snow Not enough to collect on the road but certainly impacting my vision Along the way I fulfilled my obligation as our Senior Grand Deacon Joe Thompson says by stopping at a Kwik Trip 2 45 I arrive at the LaCrosse Masonic Center to another huge crowd very excited as they re nearing the end of their day I was excited too because I knew I was able to perform one of my favorite parts as King Solomon in the 2nd section of our Master Mason degree Jacob Schultz put on a fantastic event and Rod LaBlanc Zor Potentate not only facilitated the day but took a huge part in the MM degree with me 15 more guys beginning their journey into our unbelievable Fraternity 6 00 I begin my travel home back to Mukwonago Of course I must stop for a Burger and a beverage while I catch a little bit of college football highlights at my favorite Burger joint in the Dells with our Grand Orator Kevin Gruber 11 10 I pull into my garage safely at home The total for the day 553 miles 8 hours and 31 minutes of driving Absolutely worth it Nearly 60 men join our fraternity in one day Tons of awareness created for our Shrines I know that a lot of those Brothers in attendance and several of those that joined today once they prove their knowledge of the Master Mason degree to their home Lodge will seek out membership in our Shrine Temples I look forward to the Scottish Rite Masonic Day of Lights scheduled for February 4th 2023 and the York Rite Masonic Day of Light in April I ve said many times the Masonic Day of Light is an option for your Lodge and our new Brothers It s your culture You make the decision if it s right for your Lodge and for the new Brother that s joining our Fraternity An unbelievable day We had members of Wisconsin Freemasonry Leadership team at each location All of us carry the same message and all of us work for you to make our fraternity better I d again like to Thank Tripoli Potentate Matt Wright Beja Potentate John Van Lanen and Zor Potentate Rod LaBlanc for all their help promoting and facilitating an unbelievable day The Shriner Masonic Day of Light will be a great memory for a long time I m proud to be a Freemason Paul T Tourville Grand Master Wisconsin Freemasonry December 2022 Zor Zephyr Magazine Page 7

Mitch Behlke Queen Antioch Temple No 113 Daughters of the Nile 85 S Stoughton Rd Madison WI Noble Ralph and I spent 8 spectacular days with the Shriner family and friends October 19 26 2022 on the Shriners Fall Tour Potentate Rod and Lady Mary did a terrific job in organizing this awesome trip I post our pictures for all to enjoy The weather was cooperative and the autumn colors were magnificent The stop at Niagara Falls brought back memories for Ralph and me 52 years ago we stopped there on our honeymoon The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame took us back to our youth with The Beatles and Elvis music Hershey Chocolate World was sweet Enjoyed a trolley ride around the town with a docent giving us a detailed history Milton Hershey s philosophy of life and love of eduShriners Fall Tour cation is implied in his philanthropy be honest train yourself and love God and your fellowman Sounds familiar to the Masonic principles of life The Amish way of life was extremely interesting Everyone enjoyed a most delicious homecooked meal at the home of the Fisher family and was introduced to Shoofly pie The Amish social media communication is a small phone booth Their form of transportation is very basic pedal bikes for trips up to 5 miles and horse drawn buggies Enjoyed a ride on the Strasburg Railroad including a lunch in a railroad car Gettysburg was an awe inspiring historical place to stand on the same ground as the soldiers To imagine a battle in the open farm fields was unbelieveable The conditions these men went thru were brutal I think of the surgeons nurses and women volunteers Niagara Falls who cared for the wounded and how they endured the most gruesome experiences Flight 93 Memorial was a somber but proud place to visit The 93 footTower of Voices with 40 chimes represented the voices of the 40 courageous passengers and crew who gave their lives to save others Great fun with old friends and making new Waiting to play another game of euchre Had the best bus driver who exhibited his passion for what he does This is the way to enjoy a trip I was very proud of our Daughters of the Nile group who joined the tour Carol Gorsuch Dorothy Gant Diane Amundson Mitch and Ann Becker A Riverboat dinner cruise was a wonderful way to wrap up this fantastic trip I will remember this event with friends forever Nothing more important in this world than family friends and fun Thank you Potentate Rod and Lady Mary Merry Christmas to Everyone Proud to be a Daughter of the Nile Queen Mitch Behlke Mitchrn507 hotmail com 920 988 0608 Amish Phone Booth Page 12 Zor Zephyr Magazine www zorshriners com Strasburg Railroad

ZOR Shrine Fall Potentate Tour Ready to Roll More than 40 Shriners Ladies and friends enjoyed 8 days of history and heritage fun and fellowship as they traveled to the Eastern United States A bus a train a trolley and a paddleboat Wisconsin Illinois Indiana Ohio New York Pennsylvania Kentucky and Canada Many of the travelers started the day before the trip with the Honored Ladies Lunch ZOR Shrine Stated Meeting a great dinner and a stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Madison The trip started with a dinner and shopping at The Das Dutchman EssenHaus Restaurant in Middlebury Indiana This was not the original destination but an accident which left an entire community without electricity led us to this great meal A stop in Cleveland at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame proved to be an interesting stop where everyone found a favorite singer or group that brought back many memories and good times After arriving at our hotel for the evening a few travelers from our group ventured down to view the nightly Niagara Falls light display Outstanding Cincinnati River Boat Dinner Blue Gate Inn Shipshewana Indiana Page 14 Zor Zephyr Magazine www zorshriners com

A short bus ride took us to the Buffalo Botanical Gardens where we were able to view a variety of plants and flowers Traveling through New York and Pennsylvania to our next stop we were able to enjoy the splendid fall colors along through the Allegheny and Appalachian Mountains and along the Susquehanna River The colors were definitely at their peak Everything Chocolate Our 4th day took us to the Hershey Chocolate World where we enjoyed a historical tour of Hershey world while riding in a Hershey Kiss Interesting to watch the process of making chocolate and enjoy the free samples Also plenty of time for shopping before we embarked on the tour of Hershey PA aboard a Trolley with a guide We learned about Milton Hershey and his failures in life before finally starting the successful Hershey Plant Mr Hershey believed in giving back and started a school for children and built numerous companies throughout Hershey His Foundation continues to provide both public and private education for youth and any student who graduates from the Hershey High School receives a large scholarship for college Hershey was quoted as saying What good is money unless you use it for the benefit of the community and of humanity in general A great philanthropy Later that afternoon we watched a film about an Amish youth and his choice to stay with the Amish or leave their community A step on guide took us around Lancaster area highlighting several Amish sites and homes Our day ended with a delicious meal of baked chicken beef roast and Shoofly pie served in an Amish home How much fun to visit with them and learn about their family history Day 5 found us on board an authentic steam train as we traveled through 2500 acres of Amish Country aboard the Strasburg Railroad America s Oldest continuously operating railroad Lunch was in a railroad car at the Casey Jones Restaurant Originally opened in 1970 you can still imagine yourself in a dining car Leaving Strasburg we drove to Gettysburg for the Cyclorama presentation of the Battle of Gettysburg and Museum giving everyone a background for tomorrow s Battlefield Tour All Aboard Gilberto The only Amish bus driver you ll ever see Strasburg Railroad Pennsylvania Page 16 Zor Zephyr Magazine www zorshriners com

Day 6 started with a step on guide gave us all a history lesson as traveled through the 6000 acre battlefield and learned about those fatal 3 days in 1863 More than 1300 monuments markers and memorials tell the story of the battle and the men who fought there From Gettysburg we drove to Stoystown PA where we saw the National Memorial for Flight 93 Due to the actions of the 40 passengers and crew the attack on the US Capital was prevented The memorial includes brick walls marking the flight path a walking path to the Wall of Names and Memorial Plaza and the open field along with many pictures giving detailed information about the day The Tower of Voices is a 93 foot tall memorial which hold 40 wind chimes representing the passengers and crew The chimes create 40 tones voices that represent the serenity of the site Day 7 took us to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton Ohio Since 1963 the Hall of Fame encompasses those in the field who were exceptional figures players coaches owners and office personnel Currently there are 362 members of the Hall of Fame Welcome to Hershey World Mighty Casey Statue Dinner in an Amish Home Pro Football Hall of Fame Gettysburg December 2022 Zor Zephyr Magazine Page 17
